Thai yoga massage is a dynamic blend of yoga like stretches, meridian focused point pressure and Ayurvedic practices. Created 2,500 years ago in Thailand, it's development was influenced by Indian, Chinese and indigenous practices. It relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically. It is performed on a mat on the floor with the receiver fully clothed in comfortable, stretchy clothing.
Before I went to massage school I had never heard of Thai Yoga massage and now it's one of my favorite bodywork modalities. I like to call it lazy person's yoga because the person receiving basically gets to lay down and have someone else do all the work of stretching their muscles. It not only feels amazing, but gives the body a chance to deeply relax while also getting all the benefits of yoga and massage.
I'm really excited to announce that I'm teaching a Thai Yoga Massage class this month! Attendees will be learning how to give a front of body session. Bringing a friend, partner or other loved one is encouraged but not necessary. You can find out more about it here. Register early as space is very limited!
